The 2012 Camano Island Studio Tour takes place on the traditional Mother’s Day weekend, May 11 -13, as well as for the third year for over the encore weekend of May 19 and 20.
The Camano Studio Tour is the premier art event in our region, and the highlight of the CAA year. A tradition since 1998, the Tour now is held over two weekends in May – launching the Friday before Mother’s Day Weekend for a three-day weekend and returning the following Saturday for an encore weekend. A kind of treasure hunt where visitors can travel through beautiful Camano Island and visit more than 60 local artists at their studios and in amazing galleries to view some of the most exciting work being done on the island. All of the art and artists showing on the Tour have juried into the event to bring you exciting art from the local art community. It is an opportunity to not only explore the island, but also to visit with the artists in the very studios where the art is made. To learn from them how they create their masterpieces and to watch them in action with demonstrations and other activities throughout the Tour. And because Camano Island can be reached by car, with no need to travel by ferry, it is accessible and easy to enjoy for people traveling from every corner of the region and beyond. In less than 40 square miles, art lovers are able to experience art in a way that is unmatched in any other setting. There is truly something for everyone, with the extension of two weekends added in 2010 to accommodate the growth of the event and the excitement of the visitors who participate.
