Ann Cory has spent her life surrounded by artists. Several years ago with the encouragement of her son, Jed Dorsey, she returned to being an artist herself! All of her art during this current time has been done in her 103 year old mother’s kitchen. There, during pauses in home care, Ann Cory snatches blocks of time painting while her mother reads to her. Both are very content.

It is Ann’s challenge and joy to attempt to capture her everyday world full of light, children, flowers and birds. She paints in acrylic and finds that a most forgiving medium where she can make corrections until she’s happy and is also able to stop and restart painting at will.

Ann’s painting, “Song of Summer” was featured in 2009 on the brochure cover and on the posters for the Stanwood Camano Mother’s Day Studio Tour, and another painting, “Home for Christmas,” was the 2010 poster art used in the annual Bird Show. Ann Cory has had art work included in every juried show she has entered which includes a number of years in the Edmonds Arts Festival and Kenmore Art Show.

Art has been great connection with her family for Ann Cory. She is a proud member of the Jack Dorsey Family Art Shows (which also include Jason Dorsey, Jed Dorsey , April Nelson and Fanny Y. Cory) that are held in their Camano studio/home various times during the year. Ann Cory and her husband, Jack Dorsey, welcome people interested in art year round by appointment.
