About the 2010 Camano Island Studio Tour
We are excited that you are joining us for what has become a Northwest tradition and a showcase of talented artists: the Camano Island Studio Tour. Whether this is your first time or if you’ve been here from the beginning, we trust you will find that “Art Lives on Camano Island.”
The Studio Tour is a celebration of THE major art community in the Northwest and this guide is designed to help you make the most of this intimate and unique experience. You will find a map to each of the 35 studios and galleries on this year’s Tour along with information about local restaurants, shopping and other activities to enjoy while you are here. This is a self-guided tour, meaning you can design your own experience as you meet with 61 local artists to not only appreciate their work, but learn how it was made, where it was inspired and what it means to the artist. The story behind the art, together with your experience with it on this tour, is what turns something that is simply beautiful, into something meaningful.
While the tour itself is free, and there is no obligation to purchase anything, we have historically held the event over Mother’s Day Weekend precisely because it is such an ideal occasion to find that meaningful experience that can become the ideal gift. And because of its popularity, this year we are for the first time extending the Tour to include an additional weekend on May 15 and 16.
Regardless of when you visit, when you do make your purchase, it is important to remember that not all artists accept credit cards, so having cash on hand is helpful. While you are here, whether you find the perfect gift, add to your art collection or start one this year, or whether you simply find yourself inspired by the majestic beauty of our Island, we are confident that this year’s Studio Tour has something for everyone.
Enjoy!
