Dianna Shyne, 2010 Poster Artist
Dianna Shyne is a prolific artist working in acrylic, oil and watercolor. For nearly thirty years, her artwork has been showcased at top galleries, winning national awards and attracting the eye of critics and collectors alike.
Her style is heavily influenced by the 15-years of intense study under several renowned Russian Impressionist masters. Richly textured surfaces, compelling compositions, and dynamic color interplay to define much of her work. She finds inspiration from all areas of her life, her travels and her surroundings. A Northwest native, Shyne moved to Camano Island nearly four years ago, drawn by its unique beauty and the creative artist community that calls it home.
The painting showcased on the cover of the 12th Annual Camano Island Studio Tour was made outdoors, near Shyne’s home. Infused with the dynamic shift of light, wind and even capturing the clean sea smells, the painting, entitled “Bay Road,” is a good example of the kind of natural inspiration that surrounds all artists who live on the Island. It is also a deliberate demonstration of the unique style and possibilities that emerge with live, outdoor painting, when the artist’s brushstrokes must keep up with the ever-changing elements of nature.
In addition to her work as an artist, Shyne is also a well-respected teacher. Conveying not only theoretical art concepts but also delving into the deeper issues of creativity and the ongoing artistic journey, Shyne’s classes are both informative and inspirational.
